why is the lesbian community so divided when it comes to butch and femme lesbians ?

Why do some butch lesbian criticize femme lesbians and say their not really lesbian or scared to be lesbian because their very feminine ?

i've never said that about a femme lesbian before...but i'm not sure why we categorize ourselves...
